Kidployee helps families turn chores into paid “jobs.” It's run by 3LC Devlabs. This page explains what we store, why, and how you can delete it. We wrote it in plain language on purpose.
The short version: we only collect what the app needs to work. No ads, no selling data, no tracking. Proof photos are deleted as soon as a parent reviews them, and you can delete your whole family's data yourself at any time.
Who uses Kidployee
Parents create an account and then create accounts for their kids. Kids never sign up on their own and never give us an email address. The parent is responsible for their kids' accounts and agrees to this policy on their behalf.
What we store
For parents: first and last name, email address, username, and password. Passwords are stored as a one-way scrambled “hash,” so nobody (including us) can read them.
For kids: a display name, username, and PIN (also stored as a hash), plus an optional profile picture or cartoon avatar the family picks.
Activity: the jobs a parent creates, what each one pays, when kids start and finish jobs (how long a job took), approvals and redo notes, bonus game answers, prize wheel results, levels, earnings, and a record of each payday a parent marks as paid.
Kidployee doesn't handle real money. Pay amounts are just numbers that help the family keep track. Parents pay their kids themselves, however they like.
Proof photos
Photos are the most personal thing in Kidployee, so they get extra care:
- Photos are shrunk on the device before they're uploaded.
- Only the kid's own parent can see them.
- A photo is permanently deleted the moment the parent approves it or sends the job back. We keep the record that the job was done, not the picture.
- A photo that's never reviewed is deleted automatically after 14 days.
How we use it
Only to run Kidployee for your family: logging you in, showing jobs and progress, working out pay, and keeping accounts secure. We don't show ads, we don't sell or rent data, we don't use it to build profiles, and we don't run analytics or tracking tools.
Emails
We only email parents, and only for two things: password reset links you ask for, and alerts when a job is waiting for your review. Review alerts can be turned off any time in the Kids tab. We never send marketing emails and never email kids.
Cookies
Kidployee uses one cookie, which keeps you logged in. It's not used for tracking or advertising.
Where it's stored
The app is hosted by Vercel, data is kept in a MongoDB Atlas cloud database, and emails are sent through Google's Gmail service. These providers may store data on servers outside Canada, which means it may be subject to the laws of the country where it's stored. Data is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
Keeping accounts safe
- Passwords and PINs are stored only as hashes.
- After several wrong tries, logins are temporarily locked to stop guessing.
- Each family can only ever see its own data.
How long we keep it
We keep your family's data for as long as your account exists, except proof photos (see above). Records of failed login attempts are deleted automatically after 15 minutes, and password reset links expire after 1 hour.
Deleting your data
A parent can permanently delete their account, all of their kids' accounts, and everything connected to them from the Kids tab, under Delete account. It happens immediately and can't be undone.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about your family, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email 3lc.devlabs@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how your data is used in a meaningful way, we'll let parents know in the app first.
